Commonly referred to as “The BPK”, this regatta is held in honor of longtime club member and principal race officer (PRO) Bernie Kuse. Come see how you stack up against skippers in all the other fleets at this mid-season special. This regatta is for club members only and will determine the winner of the Bernard P. Kuse Portsmouth HC trophy. The trophy will be awarded at the JSC banquet at the end of the season. All yachts will start the same start and sail the same course, and will be scored on a Portsmouth handicap basis. It will be at the PRO’s discretion to set the courses for the day. Three races are planned, one race constitutes a regatta. There will be a casual no-cost social event in the rigging lot after the event. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Times: First Race is at 12:00 PM (Noon) Second Race and Third Race shall immediately follow the previous race All yachts have the same start (J Flag).

Active One-Design Fleets: Sweet 16 MC Scow Laser (ILCA) Melges 15 Portsmouth Handicap The Race Committee will conduct two multiple day club race series, the Spring and Summer Series, designated dates and race number are listed in the NOR. The race committee will record all participants’ scores throughout each Series and a Champion for each fleet will be named for each Series. Trophies and/or certificates will be awarded to each fleet according to the club bylaws. The race committee will have discretion to set course length and type with the goal of concluding racing by 4:00 pm each day. All races in the Spring and Summer Series will be started back to back.

The John Kling Memorial TransJac race is held as the last event of the sailing season. SCHEDULE 12:00pm - Brief Skipper‘s Meeting on the dock to go over the race course 1:24pm - First Warning Signal 1:30pm - Start Gun 4:00pm - Chili Cookoff All yachts will sail the same course and are scored with Portsmouth Handicap. It will be at the RC’s discretion to set the course of the particular race of the day. The RC will attempt, but is not required, to incorporate the following items into the racecourse: - Windward leg to the best possible location and to match or exceed the normal racing distance for a leg of this type - Windward finish in the best possible location and to match or exceed the normal race distance for a leg of this type - One leg of the race at least half the distance up the arm of the lake known as “A” arm - One leg of the race at least half the distance up the cove of the lake known as “Liggett Cove” - One race mark set a reasonable distance from and directly in front of the Lake Jacomo dam The trophies will be awarded at the JSC banquet meeting at the end of the season. One keeper trophy per 4 boats entered with a minimum of first and second place award. The Don MacClymont trophy is awarded to the second place finisher. The JSC board may elect to divide fleet into "Open" and "Novice" divisions. The starting time for the John Kling Memorial TransJac is 1:30 PM
