4) SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available at check-in and on the Jacomo website (jacomosailingclub.org)

5)  COURSES TO BE SAILED The courses will be determined by the Principal Race Officer (PRO) prior to the Competitors Meeting. Courses used by JSC are I, M, F, L, and LA (as illustrated HERE). Courses will be illustrated in Appendix A of the published Sailing Instructions.

6) RACE INFORMATION This regatta is a fundraiser for Kansas City Rotary Club 13’s  Youth Camp on Lake Jacomo and is open to all sailboats under 20’. All yachts will sail the same course and are scored using the Portsmouth Yardstick (DP-N) system, which “handicaps” boats based on their relative performance against dissimilar boats so they can be fairly scored against each other. Four races are planned for Saturday and two races planned for Sunday. Boat class handicap corrections are listed in US Sailing’s Portsmouth Yardstick Table of Pre-Calculated Classes (HERE).

7) SCORING Scoring will be Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A, except as modified below:

  • A competitor's worst score will be discarded when six (6) or more races are completed.

  • One race will constitute a Regatta.

8)  AWARDS Awards will be presented to the top five overall Finishers. Additional awards will be presented to Top Female Skipper, Top Grand Master (65 and up), Top Junior (21 and under), and Top Adaptive Sailing Skipper.

Race results will be posted in the normal club procedure on the club website (jacomosailingclub.org). Trophies or certificates will be awarded during the social at the conclusion of racing on Sunday.

9)  RISK It is the competitor’s decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. The competitors are ultimately responsible for the risks. The competitor will accept full responsibility for all their actions during any activities related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and after the regatta.

10)  ACCOMMODATIONS Lake Jacomo is located in beautiful Fleming Park in Blue Springs, Missouri. Overnight camping is available for free at the Rotary Youth Camp on the south end of the lake. Several hotels are available locally. Event organizers are happy to assist you with arranging for accommodations.
